Hi! My name is Phoebe and I am a spayed female Terrier/Dogo Argentina mix who was lost,
brought to the shelter, and never claimed by the owner. I am what the folks here
call a "Special Needs" pet because I am deaf. That doesn't mean that I cannot do
the same things that other dogs do. It doesn't mean that I will need to be taken
care of in a way that is different from other dogs. I am like my canine friends
in all the same ways. I am housetrained and won't make a mess on your floors or
carpets. No lady would ever do that, right? I am a sweet, gentle and shy little
miss, and I have characteristics which are very endearing to those who know me.
I have learned to cope with my handicap and manage very nicely. Like humans,
deaf dogs learn to recognize hand signals (sign language) and I have become very
apt at "reading" what humans would like me to do. I have learned how to read
hand signals to sit, stay, and lie down, and being the lady that I am, I will
also shake hands when I meet you. I get along very well with dogs and cats, too
and I absolutely love children. A visit to the shelter is a
must, if you are going to learn more about me. I will maybe need more tender loving
care than some other dogs you may meet, but, in return, I will give you the love
and loyalty that any good friend would bestow on his best buddy.
