HOW ABOUT
                  MEETING...

PETEY

Hi!  My name is Petey and I am a young neutered male American Bulldog. I wasn't thinking intelligently when I jumped out of my owner's car on I-95 a little while ago and I guess it was that incident that convinced my owners to bring me to the shelter. They decided that it would be better for me to live in a cozy home with a yard, instead of an apartment.  When I jumped out of the car, I must have somehow injured my left back leg and required surgery. Although I will never be able to run a marathon,  I can assure you that my weakened leg does not slow me down at all. I love to go for walks, play doggie games, and am as active as you would ever want me to be. I am a clever young man, at least that's what I have been told, and I respond very well to doggie training. I think I have a pretty good start on what to do and what not to do, so you might say that I am a little ahead of the game. What you will need, if you are going to bring me home with you, is a fair amount of time and energy. But, as one volunteer aptly worded it, "What a fabulous dog they will get if they (meaning my new owners) can make that commitment!" I am the kind of lad who will wow all the canine ladies, too. I have beautiful blue eyes and am quite the ladies' man. Right now (Jan. 2008) I am living in a foster home and I get along just fine with my foster parents' 3 cats and dog. Because I am not a small dog, I would probably be best in a home with children who are 13 years old or older. I have been told that Petey (moi) would make a wonderful pet.

Some people say dogs can't smile...How's this for a grin?

And...on the more serious side...
