needs, and giving, it's about our community, and it's about you.
Each year the Pet Adoption Center at the New Rochelle Humane Society has
sheltered and cared for over 2,000 pets. Services include:
- adoption for dogs and cats - loving responsible homes for all pets. mandatory spay/neuter policy for adopted pets; low cost spay/neuter certificates for
those in need.
- lost and found - dedicated efforts on behalf of returning lost pets.
- rescue of injured and unwanted cats and dogs.
- pet therapy - visits to nursing homes and hospitals providing warmth and attention for
patients.
- education on the welfare of animals through visits to schools and printed pet care
materials.

Why Pet Pause?
It's a long way from prestigious dog shows to the life many pets experience.
Animals have been brought to the shelter that were used by drug pushers to test drugs. Newspapers report that family pets
have been used for target practice and pets are being abandoned in increasing numbers.
Without the New Rochelle Humane Society, many animals would be left helpless and
suffering. In contrast to needless suffering, the Pet Adoption Center focuses on active
adoption, loving care and safe shelter.
We are proud of our service record and we are asking for your support.

Mission Statement: The New Rochelle Humane Society, a non-profit organization, is
dedicated to providing individual, loving care for lost, abandoned, injured and mistreated
animals throughout Westchester County.
No stray dog from our service area will ever be refused shelter or be denied medical
attention. Cats will be taken in at the discretion of the shelter manager
depending on available space at the shelter.
Every effort will be made to return lost pets to their rightful owners through found pet
ads and networking.
The Humane Society pledges to provide outstanding quality care by dedicated staff and
volunteers and to educate the public about the proper welfare of pets.
