 A sweet soul...just for you

Hey, Look me over...
           Lend me your ear...

Excuse me...may I say something?

Hi...
 Jimmy Brown

Hi!  My name is Jimmy Brown and I am an adult neutered male chocolate Labrador Retriever who was found in Eastchester this past March and brought to this shelter. The folks here at first thought that I was thin because I was old, but it seems that I was just neglected for many years. I was a very sick fellow shortly after I arrived here and the Tuckahoe Animal Hospital had to perform emergency surgery because I had what is known as bloat, or gastric torsion. I guess I am lucky to be alive and although I am still in the process of recovering, I will have to be on a special diet for the rest of my life. This may sound like a lot of responsibility to ask a potential owner to assume, but it really isn't that difficult at all. I know humans who are on special diets for whatever reason, and nobody thinks anything of it. I tend to drink lots of water, too much as a matter of fact, and this will make me nauseous. However, I am learning that water will always be available and I force myself to leave some water in my bowl so that I can have a drink later. I am a real gentleman, good with people, and compatible with other dogs. I am not sure about my reaction to cats, but the folks here will try me out with one to see how I behave. Looking for the man of your life...a true love...a real companion? Please consider me as one of your candidates for a lifetime friend.
